German star: Mesut Ozil

Germany Vs Australia game showcased another great talent from Germany. Ozil is the best footballer coming from Germany after legendary Michael Ballack. Those who watch Bundesliga already knew about Ozil talent and skills. But, Ozil showed his all-round skills to rest of world in yesterday’s game. His passing, running into box and play making skills decimated Australians in first 45 minutes. Some coaches like Dunga believe in team play but some coaches build their teams around a single player only they got exceptional players like Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona. That’s why German coach Joachim Low has built his team around Mesut Ozil. My nickname for Ozil: “German Xavi” – His passing is exceptional. He creates so many opportunities with defence splitting passes like Xavi. But, Ozil makes speedy runs with ball just like Lionel Messi and creates space for forwards to score. At 21, this 6-ft midfielder is already a 5-season veteran. He is also eligible to play for Turkey (parent’s homeland) but he decided to play for Germany. After inconsistent performances in 2008 and 2009, he is at another level in this season and found place in European team of the season. He will be spoken in the league of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in coming years. Surprise: Ozil was sold by Schalke for just 5 million euros to Werder Bremen in 2008. His current price tag is now around 25 million euros.  Mesut Ozil profile: Age: 21 (October 15, 1988) Birth place: Gelsenkirchen, Germany Position: Attacking midfielder First club: Schalke 04 Current club: Werder Bremen Castrol rank: 64 (17th among midfielders) First goal: Against South Africa in September, 2009 Highlights of career: 1. My dream team

32 teams will fight for 2010 football world cup and FIFA will pick "Team of the tournament" after world cup. This is my dream team from participating nations. I picked players basing on many criterion like team's progress, impact of player along with talent. We have to see how many of these players will be in FIFA dream team of 2010 world cup. My dream World cup team:  Coach: Dunga (Fabio Capello narrowly missed) Captain: Lucio  1. Goalkeeper: Julio Cesar (Brazil): Penalties sometimes play crucial role in knockout games as in 2004 final.  2. Defenders: Maicon: I like Dani Alves but Brazil coach's first choice is Maicon. Lucio: Brazil captain is an automatic choice. Gerard Pique: Best defender as per castrol rankings. Consistent for Spain and Barcelona. Carles Puyol is a serious contender. Ashley Cole: Best left back in world is an automatic choice.  3. Midfielders: Kaka (Brazil): Despite his indifferent form for Real Madrid, he always plays well for Brazil. I have not picked Cristiano Ronaldo as I do not have big hopes on Portugal's progress beyond second round. Xavi (Spain): Visionary master, cool passer, match controller and you can call him with any name. Best and most consistent midfielder in world. Wesley Sneijder (Netherlands): He is in terrific form for Inter Milan in Champions League. He may repeat it for Holland.  4. Attackers: Lionel Messi (Argentina): How can I leave out my favourite footballer from dream team? David Villa (Spain): Cool forward is a serious contender for golden boot. Luis Fabiano (Brazil): He can score sensational goals and is most reliable like Villa.  Narrowly missed: Iker Casillas (GK), Walter Samuel, Carles Puyol, John Terry, Arjen Robben, Angel Di Maria, Fabregas, Wayne Rooney, Fernando Torres, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard,  … [Read more...]
