It is a clash of South American rivals who finished second and third in South American quaifying. Chile plays well against other South American nations but has poor record against Brazil. Brazil is hot favourite to win this game and join other 2 South American nations in the quarterfinals (Argentina and Uruguay). Chile is playing without three first team players but has wonderful young attackers like Humberto Suazo and Alexis Sanchez.

Brazil: Brazil struggled against North Korea, played wonderfully against Ivory Coast and played poorly against Portugal. Still, Brazil topped group of death. Brazil still has not peaked in this tournament. Return of three first team players will definitely improve Brazil prospects.

Chile: They recorded narrow 1-0 victories against Honduras and Switzerland and lost to Spian (due to foul madness and redcard) and missed the glorious chance of topping group H and thereby escaping Brazil. Chileans are experts in commititng silly fouls and earning cards.

Except Felipe Melo’s injury, Brazil has no problems. They are looking compact in back but surely missed creative figures in attack. Return of Kaka and Robinho may definitely improve creative aspect. Brazil scored 3 goals against strong Ivory Coast defence. They can fancy more goals against weak Chilean defence.

Chile team: Claudio Bravo (GK and Captain), Ismael Fuentes, Gonzalo Jara, Arturo Vidal, Mauricio Isla, Carlos Carmona, Alexis Sanchez, Matias Fernandez, Mark Gonzalez, Rodrigo Millar and Humberto Suazo.

Gary Medel and Waldo Ponce (defenders) are susended for this match along with midfielder, Marco Estrada. But, Chile is boosted with the return of Matias Fernandez and Carlos Carmona.

Chile absolutely has no chance against Brazil but their attackers have the potential to score goals against aged Brazilians. Both Alexis Sanchez and Suazo can rattle any defence. Unlike Brazil, it is good to watch when Chileans play. They alwats try to play beautiful attacking football just like Arsenal. But, Brazil’s dogged defence and hoding midfielders can stop any attacking threat from Chileans. Without two first team defenders, they may leak 2-3 goals.

Final analysis: Chile has no chance against Brazil desite having good forwards. Return of Kaka and Robinho along with strong defence means 3-4 goals for Brazil and 0-1 against. But, Chile has shown tenacity against strong Spain team by playing with ten men (still scored 1 goal without conceding one). If they show that much tenacity even against Brazil, it will be a tight content as Brazil do not have enough creative players except Kaka.
