Live World Cup analysis:
09:30 AM IST: Welcome to most significant game of 2010 soccer world cup. No one might have imagined this contest so early in this world cup. Serious semi-final contenders are facing each other in second round due to poor England performance.
10:52 AM IST: Germany topped group D while England stood second in group C.
11:34 AM IST: Except Ashley Cole, no England player impressed me at this world cup. James Milner returned to form in the last game.
04:12 PM IST: Germany has four good defenders and two outstanding holding midfielders. It may be very difficult for England to create chances against that line-up.
06:58 PM IST: Fabio Capello picked Upson over Carragher while German coach picked Boeteng over Badstuber.
07:12 PM IST: Bastian Schweinsteiger is fit and Klose returned to squad. If Klose scores another goal, he will join Pele with 12 world cup goals.
07:26 PM IST: Even today, we have fond memories of that epic game – 1966 world cup final between England and West Germany. Can this game reach those epic proportions?
Live game analysis:
Game Kicks off at Bloemfontein.
1 minute: England started game on high tempo but Germans are not troubled yet.
4 minute: Good save by David James from Mesut Ozil. Who can except Ozil?
6 minute: Ozil once again entered penalty area but England is safe.
8 minute: In this game, England seems to be betting on long balls. But, they missed Beckham.
10 minute: Winner may face Argentina in the quarterfinals. Another mouth-watering clash especially if it is England. Hand of God!
16 minute: David James impressed me with his cool and composed attitude. Will this game go into penalties?
No attack on goal by England even after 17 minutes. Germany has one.
17 minute: England got freekick from 28 metres but wasted by Frank Lampard.
20 minute: GOAL. Miroslav Klose scores. His 12th goal in world cup. He joined Pele. Respect Klose for his deeds. Great player. Real legend.
Poor defending by Terry and Upson. Brutal exposure.
I don’t know why Lampard, Gerrard and Rooney do not play that well for country as they do for club.
I don’t know why Miroslav Klose plays that well for country but not for his club.
Miroslav Klose: 50 goals for country and 12 goals at world cup.
24 minute: England fails to test German goalkeeper even once after 24 minutes. That is all about this game.
30 minute: David James once again saved England. Klose is unlucky. Germany at its best.
31 minute: England missed Rio Ferdiand. England conceded silly goal. Such errors
32 minute: GOAL. Podolski scores.
Germany 2 – England 0
Wonderful play from Germany. Unselfish Mueller provided beutiful pass to Podolski.
34 minute: Wonderful save from Neuer from Frank Lampard.
35 miniute: David James saved from Klose. If not James, scoreline might have been 4-0
36 minute: GOAL. Mathew Upson scores for England.
Germany 2 – England 1
37 minute: England denied an equaliser. Ball crossed line but they are unfortunate.
Football at its best. One of the best matches I saw in recent times. We may see repitition of 1966 world cup final epic game.
Both teams are playing attacking and entertaining game. Wonderful to watch. Best game of 2010 world cup. Both teams should be in quarterfinals. Unfortunately, one team will be eliminited after this game.
First half ends.
England 1 – Germany 2
Best players in the first half:
England: David James, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard
Germany: Miroslav Klose, Podolski, Ozil and Mueller.
If England played this well in group stage, it might have gotten confirmed berth in semi-finals. This England team has lot of character but Germans have more flair. Are we watching Germany or Holland? This is a different German team.
Second half kicks off.
46 minute: Yellow card to Friedrich (Germany).
47 minute: Good move by Steven Gerrard but shot wide. He inspired Liverpool to overcome 3 goal deficit against Milan in the Champions league. Can he do that here?
50 minute: England started first half on high tempo but went into shell before regaining tempo in last minutes. They started second half on bright note.
51 minute: Unfortunate Frank Lampard. He hit goal bar. He is in terrific form in this game. He is getting too much space.
54 minute: Good move by Germany. Corner taken by Ozil.
55 minute: Germany entered into penalty area but England is safe.
57 minute: Both German holding midfielders are carrying yellow cards from previous game. If they get another one, they will miss quarterfinals. That is playing on their minds. That’s why there no serious tackles. In total, there are 8-9 players on the ground who will miss next game if they get another yellow.
59 minute: Mueller shot went wide due to deflection. Lucky Engand.
60 minute: James Milner provided another excellent cross but Mueller saves.
61 minute: Great move by Engand. But, Milner’s shot went wide due to deflection.
Both teams are playing wonderful football. Relentless attacks. Wonderful game.
64 minute: There is more fluency in German’s moves compared to England.
65 minute: Why no one is closing James Milner? Lucky youngster is getting both space and time.
If this game went into penalties, Germany may have psychological advantage.
66 minute: Frank Lampard wasted freekick. Counter attack- goal.
GOAL. Mueller scores for Germany.
Germany 3 – England 1
England may be out of 2010 world cup.
68 minute: Mueller shot went wide.
20 minutes left for England.
GOAL. Mueller scores for Germany. Poor Gareth Barry. Wonderful run by Ozil and classic pass to Mueller.
Germany 4 – England 1
2 German substitutions.
Klose out – Gomez in
Mueller out – Trochowski in
How many silly goals England conceded in this game? Young Germans have pace, flair and big match temperament.
New Star- Mesut Ozil. His price is just 5 million euros in 2008 (Schalke sold to Werder Bremen). His current price tag – more than 30 million euros.
England will definitely be out of 2010 world cup. 3 goals in 10 minutes. Shaddy defence.
80 minute: Great save by Neuer. Yellow card to Glen Johnson.
German substitution: Oezil out – Kiesling in.
82 minute: Germany is still trying for another goal.
What hapened to England? They started each half on high note and suddenly went into shell.
89 minute: Frank Lampard’s shot on goal - easily saved by Mueller. He was the most unluckiest man on field.
Congrats to German coach for betting on youth.
Germany 4 – England 1
Germany entered into the quarterfinals of 2010 football world cup.
Man of the match: Thomas Mueler.
